Asian Longhorned Beetle

The Asian Longhorned Beetle (Anoplophora glabripennis) was discovered in Worcester, MA in early August
2008. It is estimated that the population has been in existence there for a minimum of 5 years.  This hardwood tree
killer is native to China and arrives in North America in wood packing material such as: pallets, crates and large
wooden spools. Once here, the adult beetle seeks healthy, live hardwood trees for laying their eggs. After several
years of infestation within a tree, the tree dies.  More information regarding this deadly pest will be available shortly.

Winter Kill - Winter Desiccation
Many plants are susceptible to winter and summer burn known as "WINTER KILL", especially  broadleaf evergreens.  To protect your plants, call ArborCare to schedule anti-transpirant sprays.

Save your Hemlocks

Infestations of Hemlock woolly Adelgid are expected to be severe in 2009.  For over a decade, we have had great success saving Hemlock trees.  Don't forget to inquire about non-toxic controls for this coming season.

Bacterial Fire blight

Leaves die back quickly and blackening affecting trees and shrubs in the rose family (rosacea), particularly ornamental apples, pears and MT Ash.  Contact ArborCare to review your existing plant health care program.  Timing for proper control of many plant pest and diseases is crucial for proper control.

Maple Tar Spot & Anthracnose

Due to several severe fungal infections, maple trees are looking ill and experiencing early leaf drop.  Continued    infections, along with further defoliation by spring caterpillars will cause many maples to fall into premature decline.  Please call our office for an evaluation and recommendations.
